Union Baptist sets music event
Union Baptist Church, 1601 SW Dr. C.W. Whitlow, invites the community to be a part of the fourth annual Gospel Music Extravaganza at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday leading to a musical at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. The church is calling all vocalists: sopranos, altos, tenors, baritones, and bass to come help lift up the name of Jesus.
Minister of Music Mitchell Pierce Jr. said the musical will be a mix of traditional and contemporary songs.
"During the workshop the vocalists will be divided into different groups and each group will be given one or two songs to practice," Pierce said. "The groups will then perform during the musical on Friday."
Pierce said the purpose of the workshop is to get community participation in the musical.
"It will be an empowering experience for everyone," Pierce said. "Hopefully someone will get saved and come to Christ through our music ministry."
Some of the participating churches include Bethlehem Baptist Church, Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Greater Galilee Baptist Church, Galilee Baptist Church, New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and St. John's Missionary Baptist Church.
