St. Paul's art show will start Friday
If you have lived in Lawton very long, then you will probably remember the St. Paul's United Methodist Church's annual art show, which has been a fixture on the arts calendar since the early 1980s.
This year's show will be Friday through Oct. 15 and will feature 15 artists. Some have shown their art in the past at St. Paul's, and some are brand new to the venue.
Show hours will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at the church, 910 NW 38th.
Show Chairman Ray Dryz is happy for St. Paul's to host the show again.
"St Paul's recognizes the importance of celebrating the creative spirit within each of us, and strives to create an atmosphere that is inviting and fun for the entire community," he said.
Artists invited to the show this year are Patta Butcher, Lanetta Davis, Debbie Flynn, Janie Griffin, Connie Harrison, Caity Liz, Nichole Scruggs Lorenzen, Gayle Quiett-Miller, Brian Parks, Cindy Pauchey, Brandy Percy, Martine and Henry Poppe, Jan Stratton, Elizabeth Tilghman and Debbie Meraz.
Items created and for sale by artists will include oil paintings by Debbie Flynn; metal objects by Brian Parks; and clocks made of all kinds of materials, dog collars and phone chargers made by Gayle Quiett-Miller.
Categories include photography, fiber art, pottery, handmade jewelry, handmade baskets, gourd art, silk painting, drypoint, linocut, farm paintings and beaded jewelry.
