Jan Williams, left, and Beverly Snider, members of the Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma and First Baptist East Church, look at one of the songs they will sing during the free Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Singing ChurchWomen will sing at First East

Jan Williams, a member of the Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma, hopes attendees at the group's free concert Thursday "leave with a happy heart."

The Singing ChurchWomen will present a free, "One Heart, One Voice, One Spirit" concert at 7 p.m. Thursday hosted by First Baptist East Church, 3302 E. Lee. All are welcome and the hour-and-a-half-long concert will include traditional and contemporary arrangements, scripture and congregational worship.

First Baptist East members and ChurchWomen members Beverly Snider and Williams stopped by The Lawton Constitution to talk about the upcoming concert and what it means to be a part of the singing group.

Leaving with hope
Both Snider and Williams hope their audiences take something home with them from a concert.

"I hope they leave with a happy heart, that they have been uplifted and I believe they have heard a message through song ... and it left an imprint," said Williams, who originally joined the group in 1991, just two years after it was formed. And "that they would have (a song) in their head or heart and hear it over and over again."
