Methodists clergy get assignments
The official "moving day" for the state's United Methodist Church was Thursday when clergy assignments for the 2015-16 church year were announced by Bishop Robert Hayes Jr. during the annual statewide meeting of Oklahoma Conference United Methodists.
The announcements include:
In Lawton, the Rev. Lory Fahle will minister at Aldersgate Redemption United Methodist Church and in Marlow as an associate pastor of First United Methodist Church.
Other United Methodist pastors new to the region include: Sandra Shepherd, serving at both Stephens United Methodist Church in Duncan and Ryan Church; Kathy Gibson, associate pastor at First United Methodist Church, Duncan; Les Bussell, at Snyder and Indiahoma; Joel Thompson, at Hobart; and Jim Bradford, at Grandfield and Randlett.
Business sessions and worship services attracted 1,200 delegates and guests. Highlights included:
Delegates elected 34 people (an equal number of clergy and lay members) to take part in two major denominational events in 2016: the global General Conference, April 2016 in Portland, Ore.; and the eight-state South Central Jurisdictional Conference, July 2016 in Wichita, Kan. The events are held every four years.
