Cameron Baptist plans block party

Cameron Baptist Church invites the community for a fun-filled family event, a community block party, from 2-4 p.m. today at the church.

Children will have ample opportunity to enjoy face painting, pony rides and bounce houses. Extreme animals will be available to pet and hold.

"Some of the extreme animals from Zoo to You include lizards, a baby kangaroo and a lemur," McCuiston, director of family ministries at the church, said.

Smoke house, K-9 team

The Lawton Fire Department will have the smoke house at the event. The Lawton Police Department will have its K-9 team accompanied by McGruff the crime dog. Door prizes will include two season passes to Comanche Nation Waterpark.

Free hot dogs will be served. McCuiston said the purpose of the party is to inform the public about the upcoming Vacation Bible School and provide an opportunity for an eventful family day.

"It is a free event where family can spend quality time with each other. It is a great way to end the school year and kick off the summer," McCuiston said. "Last year we had about 1,300 people who participated and our goal this year is to have 1,600 people come to the party."

Party will move indoors in case of rain
