Wanda Jean Lovejoy

Private family graveside service for former Frederick and Tipton resident Wanda Jean Lovejoy, age 88, of Altus, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery with David Lovejoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mrs. Lovejoy passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the Magnolia Creek Skilled Nursing Center in Altus, Oklahoma.

Wanda Jean (Randolph) Lovejoy was born December 30, 1930, west of Frederick, Oklahoma to Claude and Ella Randolph. She attended Whiteface Public School. In August 1950, she and William Merl Lovejoy were united in marriage in Frederick, Oklahoma. Before she met Merl, she worked as a Soda Jerk at McDonald’s Drug Store in Tipton. She was a homemaker until her children were raised. She later worked at the Booterie in Frederick and Vernon for several years and then for LaJune Marcom at the Gay Shop in Frederick. She was a member of the Dizzy Daisy Club of Davidson. She loved watching football and she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were her pride and joy. She was a member of the Tipton Church of Christ.

She is survived by her five children Wilma Jean Lovejoy of Weatherford, Oklahoma, David Lovejoy of Waldo, Arkansas, Betty Stout and her husband Larry of Frederick, Oklahoma, Marilyn Terry and her husband Mike of Tyler, Texas, and Jimmy Lovejoy and his wife Donna of Chickasha, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Jarrod Lovejoy, Laura King, Lynn Stout, Jessica Cochrane, Jennifer Lewis, Jed Lovejoy, Krystin Kinsaul, and Jackie Lovejoy; and nine great-grandchildren, Samantha Doberenz, Camelia Cowan, Ethan Cowan, Rachel Stout, Gage Stout, Eli Cochrane, Jake Cochrane, Judah Lovejoy and Asher Lovejoy; one great-grandson due in February; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Ella Randolph; her husband, Merl Lovejoy; and her siblings, Othela, Arlene, Sonny, Vernell Louis, Thomas and Oleta.

A memorial contribution can be made to the Tipton Children’s Home in memory of Wanda Jean Lovejoy.
