Funeral Service for Ray Alvin Fletcher of Lawton, Oklahoma will be 10:00 am Friday, December 7, 2018 at Whinery Huddleston Funeral Chapel with J.O Howard, officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Whinery Huddleston Funeral Service.
Ray was born December 19, 1925 in Gracemont, Oklahoma to Lewis and Myrtle Kanounse Fletcher. Ray joined the US Naval Service in 1944. He was Seaman First Class and served his country for 2 years. He received many awards during his service: Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon. He became a Nazarene preacher and pastored at several churches. Ray owned and operated City Moving and Storage for many years. He was best known for his kind heart, his lovingness to others, his sense of humor and especially his story telling. Ray loved to play dominos and was very good pool player. His love for gardening will never be forgotten.
Ray is survived by his grandson Randy Roper and his wife Heather of Lawton; his son in law, Dan Roper of Elgin, Ok; and his great granddaughter, Autumn Roper.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Fletcher; his daughter, Lynda Roper; his sisters, Vesta Fletcher and Irene Garrett and his parents, Lewis and Myrtle Fletcher.
