Nicholas “Nick” R. Tahchawwickah

Nicholas “Nick” R. Tahchawwickah of Cache went to his heavenly reward on Monday May 13, 2019 with his loving family by his side.

Funeral service for Nick will be 11:00 A.M. Friday May 17, 2019 at the Comanche Nation Funeral Home with Dr. Julian Gunn, Dr. Summers, Rev. Louis Headman and Wallace Coffey officiating. Burial will be at the Cache KCA Cemetery under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.

Prayer service will be 7:00 P.M. Thursday May 16, 2019 at the funeral home.

Nick was born October 21, 1929 in Cache to Joseph Tahchawwickah and Flora Todossey. He grew up south of Cache with his grandmother and graduated from Cache High School. He played baseball at Cache.

Nick joined the US Army in Oklahoma City on January 29, 1951 and was honorably discharged on January 7, 1953. Nick was a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. While Nick was in the Army he participated in the Gold Glove Boxing and traveled the world to Italy, Greece, and Germany.

Nick received his calling in 1962 to serve his Lord. He attended Nazarene Indian Bible in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was an ordained minister after graduating and was an Ordained Elder of the Church of the Nazarene.

Nick married the love of his life Peggy Wermy in Cache. They traveled and spread the Word of God in many places. They are both members of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma. The couple moved back to Cache in 1972 where they made their home and raised their children. He worked A and A Fence Company and Big Bobs as a fence erector for 36 Years.

Nick is survived by : wife Peggy; children: Sonya Tahchawwickah both of the home, Sue and Nick Fallahzadeh, Jean Wang all of Hickory, Texas, Nick and Deya Tachawwickah of Hurst, Texas; sisters: Rose Nauni of Cache, and Velma Kimble of Ponca City; brother, Pete Coffey of Ponca City; brother in law, George Wermy and Gerri of Cache; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grand kids; many other family members and friends.

Nick is preceded in death by: his parents: Flora Todossey and Jacob Tahchawwickah, daughter, Flora Hernandez Shaw, son, Baby Chulik; 3 sons in laws: Cony Wang, Freddie Hernandez and Tommy Joe Frazier Jr.; siblings: Vida Woommavovah, Margarite Parker, Mary Allen Morris, Helen Cable, Carla Atauvich, Sara Saddleblanket Burgess, Allen Tahchawwickah and Burnell Pueblo Sr.; grandparents: Mahtakwah, Tekwitha, and Johnson Poahway; brothers in laws: Donald Wermy Jr., Glen Wermy and Vernon Cable; sister in laws: Gloria Cable, Leatrice Wermy, Roberta Wermy and Betsy Wermy; mother and father in law: Agnes and Donald Wermy Sr.
