FREDERICK Funeral mass for Maria Salas Juanes, 70, Frederick, will be a 1 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at St. Helen's Catholic Church, Frederick, with the Rev. Fr. Cory D. Stanley, pastor, officiating. Rosary service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Juanes passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at a Lawton hospital.
Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick.
Maria was born on April 10, 1948, in Durango, Mexico, to Nicholas and Josefa (Ramirez) Salas. She grew up in Mexico then settled in Frederick, in 1980, where she went on to raise five children. She worked for Pioneer Manor Nursing Center as a housekeeper from 1981 to 1997. She continued her education and became a certified nurse's aide at Frederick Memorial nursing center from 1997 until the time of her death. She had a deep passion for caring for the elderly. In her spare time, she loved to crochet and sew. She also enjoyed cooking, especially for her grandkids. Christmas time was always a special time of the year because she would make her signature tamales.
Maria will be welcomed in Heaven by her parents; several brothers and sisters; and a granddaughter: Mayra DeeAnn Juanes.
Maria is remembered and survived by her three sons: Cesar Juanes and wife, Aida, Frederick; Noel Juanes and wife, Patty, Tipton; Oscar Juanes and wife Alma, Frederick; two daughters, Lupe Juanes and husband Jim McNier, Frederick, and Alma Juanes, of Frederick as well; grandchildren: Oliveah Juanes, Elena Santiago, Alyxs Santiago, Maria Juanes, Maddox Enriquez, Isaac Ramos, Andrew Ramos and fiancé Estefania, Tracy Flores Ball, Leanna Flores; great-grandchildren: Leo Ramos, Amelia Ramos, Colton Wolfe, Nelson Wolfe, Bryant Flores, Kynzee Carpenter, Kenleigh Wolfe, Cason Wolfe, Steve Wolfe, and Whitley Wolfe; her beloved four-legged friend: Shih-Tzu dog Gypsie and two parakeets.
