Loyd G. ‘LG’ McDaniel
Funeral service for Loyd G. “LG” McDaniel, 89, of Elgin, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2019 at Crossroads Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of the Elgin Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Loyd G. McDaniel was born January 19, 1930 in Lawton, OK to Walter and Lura (Hall) McDaniel. He grew up in Elgin where he attended Elgin High School. After high school, LG served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. LG married Wanda Jeffreys and the two made their home in Fletcher where he worked for Comanche County and their first son, Linden, was born. The family moved to Pampa, TX and LG worked for Cabot Industries. They lived in Texas for 10 ½ years and had their second son, Leland, before moving back to Elgin, OK in 1966. LG bought a farm and went to work for Civil Service at Ft. Sill. After retiring, LG went back to farming and ranching full time. Wanda passed away in 2004 and LG married Mary Beth Owens in 2006. The two were members of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Elgin. LG enjoyed being outside and working on his farm. He was blessed to be doing this until just recently when his health would no longer allow it.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth McDaniel; 1 son, Leland McDaniel, of Ardmore; 3 grandchildren: Estella Barker and her husband Matt, Lyndell McDaniel and his wife April, and Conner McDaniel; and 7 great grandchildren: Courtney Bashaw, Lacy Taylor and her husband Cameron, Aubrey Barker, Tyler Barker, Bryleigh Barker, Lainey McDaniel, and Rhett McDaniel.
He was proceeded in death by first wife, Wanda McDaniel; his parents: Walter and Lura Hall; his son, Linden McDaniel; and his 2 sisters: Almarene Shipman and Norma Lutonsky.
