She attended Manitou Public School and graduated from Manitou High School with the Class of 1948. She was united in marriage to Ernest Hoover at the Manitou Methodist Church on Oct. 15, 1948. She was an excellent cook and was well known for her homemade bread. At 12:30 every day, she had a full-course meal ready for her family and whomever else may have been present.  She had a tradition of teaching each of her grandchildren how to decorate cakes and loved decorating Easter eggs with the kids.
