Earl Ricardo ‘Rick’ Donathan

Graveside service for Earl Ricardo “Rick” Donathan age 85, of Tipton, Oklahoma will be at 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2019, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd., Elgin, Oklahoma with Rev. Les Banks and Chaplain Steven Gillespie officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will be under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick, Oklahoma. Mr. Donathan passed away Monday, August 26, 2019, at his home in Tipton.

Earl Ricardo “Rick” Donathan was born June 1, 1934, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Estelle Earl and Mildred (Burgess) Donathan. He attended public school in Hebron, Ohio, where he was involved in sports. On July 9, 1955, he was united in marriage Doris Pamela Thurlow in Wallasey, Cheshire, England. Rick was in the United States Air Force for over 21 years, retiring as Tech Sergeant. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He later worked for Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base for 25 years. Earl enjoyed refereeing, umpiring and playing all types of sports. He was a foster grandparent for the Kindergarten Class of Tipton Public School.

He is survived by his wife, Doris “Midge” Donathan of the home; one daughter, Star Miligan and her husband Benjie of Tipton, Oklahoma; one son, Desmond Donathan of Yukon, Oklahoma; one brother, Brent Donathan and his wife Betty of Mt. Orab, Ohio; one sister, Kathy Cunningham and her husband Ted of Felicity, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Ivy “Bub” Palin of Tipton, Oklahoma and Josephine Clark of Hastings, England; four grandchildren, Danielle Provence and her husband Corky, Dustin Donathan, Adam Miligan and his wife Kendra, and Evan Miligan; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Provence, Callen Miligan, Clayton Miligan, Carson Miligan, and Cashinn Miligan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cindy Boggs; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Palin and Alfred Clarke.
