Darrell Ernst Mietchen
Graveside service for Darrell Ernst Mietchen, 60, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Highland Cemetery, Lawton, with the Rev. Charles Pettigrew, pastor of Liberty Heights Christian Church, officiating.
Mr. Mietchen died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at his home in Lawton.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1954, in Mt .Vernon, Wash., to Everett A. and Marion Mietchen. He grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1972. Darrell was a carpenter and was a member of the local Carpenter's Union 1585 for many years. For the last 10 years, he was employed by Lawton Public Schools. He worked with his son, Chris, making repairs and maintaining all schools in Lawton and Fort Sill. He loved working on cars with his son, Chris.
Survivors include his mother, Marion Mietchen, Lawton; his wife, Kathy Mietchen, Lawton; a son, Chris Mietchen, Lawton; daughters: Robin Mietchen, Lawton, and Rachel Weathers and husband Wes, Yukon; five grandchildren: Josh, Lindsey, Rebecca and Stormi Weathers, all of Yukon and Lorene Mietchen, Lawton; brothers: David Mietchen and wife Jo, Lawton, and Danny Mietchen and wife Jana, Lawton; a sister, Carol Collins and husband Dennis, Fulton, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett A. Mietchen; a niece, Carla Tharp; and his grandparents.
