Daniel Joe “Dan” Jennings

Graveside service with military honors for Daniel Joe “Dan” Jennings will be 11:30 A.M. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Glen Ferguson of Chickasha, Oklahoma officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Daniel Joe “Dan” Jennings, age 87, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in Mesquite. He was born on July 7, 1932 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Vernon H. and Verda (Wade) Jennings. Dan graduated from Lawton High School in 1956. He joined the Navy on April 28, 1950 and was honorably discharged on June 12, 1953. While in the Navy, Dan served on the U.S.S. LST 1048 which was a tank landing ship and played an important role in the Inchon invasion which led to the recapture of Seoul, South Korea. Dan served in the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with one star and the United Nations Service Medal. He later became a truck driver from which he later retired.

He is survived by his two sons, Steven Jennings of Mesquite, Texas and Scott Jennings of Duncan, Oklahoma in addition to numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Lewis Jennings, daughter-in-law, Dianne Jennings, brothers and sisters, Lorene Jennings, Florene Jennings, Virginia Dexter, Lee Jennings, Murriel Jennings, Donald Jennings, Bobbie Biggs and Jimmie Jennings.
