Charles O. Chaffins
Funeral for retired Sgt. 1st Class Charles O. Chaffins, 76, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.
Sgt. Chaffins died Friday, March 14, 2014, in Lawton.
Burial with full military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.
He was born Dec. 27, 1937, in Garrett, Ky., to Mark and Maude Duff Chaffins. He married Linda Lee McGlasson on June 27, 1966, in Belton, Texas. She died Dec. 28, 1989. Sgt. Chaffins served two tours in Vietnam and retired from the Army after 20 years of service. His awards and decorations include the Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. Following his retirement, he was a certified building and electrical inspector for the City of Lawton for 15 years and was also a certified appraiser through the State of Oklahoma Tax Commission. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 751.
Survivors include two daughters: Leah Chaffins, Lawton, and Leanna Chaffins, Houston, Texas; a granddaughter, Andrea Nauman, Lawton; three brothers: Gordon Chaffins and Robert Chaffins, both of Kentucky, and David Chaffins, Virginia; and a sister, Barbara Chaffins, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers: James Chaffins, Lionel Chaffins and Avery Chaffins; and two sisters: Patricia Franklin and Mary Dehler.
