Geronimo and other Chiricahua Apaches shown en route to Florida where they were to be held as prisoners of war. This famous trackside photo was taken by photographer A.J.McDonald on Sept. 10, 1886, near the Nueces River in Texas. The Apaches were taken from Fort Bowie, Texas, and loaded on a train bound for Florida, on Sept. 8, 1886. Geronimo and Naiche, son of Cochise, are in the front row, third and fourth from the right.
