Woman faces trial for role in shooting death of man

A woman accused of playing a role in the shooting death of a Lawton man last year is slated for trial this week.

Lena Ochoa, 27, is scheduled to be tried before Comanche County District Court Judge Mark Smith beginning Wednesday on a charge of accessory to the murder of 21-year-old LaVonte Jackson.

Jackson was shot and killed in March 2013 outside a house near Southwest 23rd Place and Evans Avenue. Ochoa is accused of driving Dennis Bowling and two others to and from the scene of the shooting, which authorities allege was perpetrated because the victim stole another woman's bottle of Xanax earlier in the day.

John Lewis, 61, is scheduled to begin trial Thursday before Comanche County District Court Judge Keith Aycockon one count of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm after a previous felony conviction and two other drug and paraphernalia counts.
