Shiny object attracts prospective surgical tech students
Art and science worked hand-in-robotic-hand Wednesday night to attract interest in the surgical technologist program at Great Plains Tech Center.
The tech center hosted an open house in its Allied Health center in an effort to draw new recruits to the program. With the help of Da Vinci, students are stepping into a modern Renaissance for surgical technology and the evolving role of surgical staff.
But it’s not from the famed artist. The Da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic surgical system designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach, said Surgical Technology Program Director Ann Tahah. It is controlled by a surgeon from a console.
