Pair of wrecks in Lawton Wednesday hospitalizes two

Lawton police worked a pair of injury wrecks inside the city limits Wednesday.

Officers were called in the afternoon to the area of 1515 NE Lawrie Tatum Road, just in front of Lawton Indian Hospital on the report of a wreck. Officers made contact with the drivers.

The wreck occurred when a Toyota Camry rear-ended a Ford Focus. Sgt. Tim Jenkins, LPD information officer, said the Focus was in front and when the stop light turned green the trailing Camry struck the other car which caused its airbags to deploy.

The passenger in the Camry went to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained. She told police she’d taken her seatbelt off moments before the crash and had struck her head shattering the windshield and cutting her head, according to police report.
