Officers remain on leave pending shooting investigation
Lawton police have identified the two officers involved in a Saturday night shooting that sent a 40-year-old man to the hospital.
LPD Information Officer Capt. Craig Akard said Tuesday that Lt. Brian Shotts and Sgt. Anthony Bray are on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation into the shooting. The officers were involved in the shooting of Duffy Randolph Ahhaity.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called by LPD to investigate the shooting following the incident shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday. Richard Goss, OSBI area agent-in-charge, said on Monday that investigators were working diligently on the case. Agents have met with the district attorney's office regarding the wounded man's actions as well as investigating the shooting itself.
The incident began when police were called around 9:45 p.m. Saturday to 1501 NW Williams for a welfare check of a man. The man police were sent to check was on the porch and told officers that another man known only to him as "Duffy" had threatened to kill him numerous times over the previous few hours and he was in the process of gathering items he was going to steal. "Duffy" had barricaded himself in a bedroom with a gun.
