Man faces state and federal charges

Denied sex, investigators say man’s violent outburst led to discovery of potential meth lab and state and federal charges

State and federal charges were filed Wednesday against a 51-year-old Lawton man at the center of a bizarre situation that resulted in the shutdown of a west Lawton neighborhood last week that lasted several days.

According to the woman who called 911, it began after she refused to have sex with him.

Phillip James Heath made his initial appearance in Comanche County District Court where he was charged with felony counts of possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute, maintaining place for keeping/selling controlled substance, possession of explosives by convicted felon, possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, records indicate.

The investigation into Heath began with the Lawton Police Department and grew to include the Lawton Fire Department, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Disposal Unit, and the FBI.
