A local man is scheduled to be tried this week for his alleged role in the 2012 shooting of a Lawton babysitter.
Stephone Carter, 22, could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted following the trial, which starts Wednesday in Comanche County District Court Judge Keith B. Aycock's courtroom. Carter was charged with second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm after felony conviction after the death of 27-year-old Tanya Zachary in October 2012.
Zachary was hired to watch the child of her acquaintances for a few hours while they went to see a movie. The babysitter agreed to stay at their apartment.
