Man arrested in spree
A spree of minor crimes perpetrated during Friday's early hours ended with a 23-year-old arrestee facing multiple charges.
The spree reportedly began around 2:30 a.m. when police were dispatched to a disturbance call at Walmart, 1002 N. Sheridan. The intoxicated suspect caught the eye of security officers by kicking over security cones in the parking lot before he went inside to try and buy beer, according to an arrest report. When confronted about the cones, the man shoved the security officer hard in the chest and left.
Police en route received word of a man matching his description breaking into a house at 601 NW Waterford. Sgt. John Bordelon went to the house, and the woman there said the man repeatedly rang her doorbell claiming to be a friend of a person before she told him to leave. The man then went in through the back door of the home, walked down the hallway and then left the house.
Backup officers arrived and started searching the area for the suspect, who was found a few minutes later inside the canal behind the burglary victim's home, but he still wouldn't comply with police commands.
