LPS board welcomes Bridges
Lori Bridges was sworn in as the newest member of the Lawton Public Schools Board of Education Thursday night at the board's regular meeting.
Bridges now holds Seat No. 4 on the LPS Board of Education after winning the Feb. 11 election.
Bridges is a pharmacist and longtime Parent-Teacher Association volunteer in the school district. She defeated former Eisenhower High School assistant principal Bob Brown to win the seat, which was previously held by Dr. George Schutz.
"It was very easy-going and uneventful," Bridges said of her first board meeting. "I love working with this board. They seem to work very well together."
The board also passed its annual reorganization of officer positions. Kent Jester stepped down as president, to be replaced for the next year by Donna Ronio, who was formerly the vice president. Helena John became the new vice president.
