Lawton police make gang-related drug bust following Friday night car chase

A reckless attempt to elude Lawton police by car ended up with a trip in a police unit to jail for a self-admitted gang member with a pharmacy of illegal drugs and a gun.

The story began shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday evening when LPD Sgt. Christopher Hally and Sgt. Brian Valdez were operating as a two man crew for the gang unit. Hally reported seeing a black Chevrolet Malibu traveling east on Southwest Tennessee Avenue towards Jesse L. Davenport Avenue. The left blinker was on but when the police car traveled by, the turn signal went off and the Malibu waited for the police car to stop at the sign. When the driver passed, Hally identified the driver as a self-admitted 107 Hoover Crip gang member, the report states. The officer's last contact with the driver was in March, although about three weeks prior, Hally said he attempted to stop the man in the same car  who has a revoked drivers license   but he eluded and was able to successfully escape arrest. That would change with this incident.
