Homicide victim had extensive history of domestic violence
After Lawton police opened their investigation into the seventh homicide of the year the shooting death of Timothy Hill last week, Samuel Ruffin took to social media to express his displeasure at the violent death:
"L-Town stop! Ain't nothing that serious to kill? You ain't gonna die with money, you ain't gonna die with your gang...? You like everybody else! We all die alone! Nothing to prove," Ruffin wrote on his Facebook page April 18.
The next night, he was shot and killed following a fight at a northwest Lawton nightclub.
A 44-year-old man who was arrested at the scene remained jailed on a first-degree murder complaint Monday morning, but by the day's end, he had not been formally charged. As previously reported, investigators were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the Dew Drop Inn, 1804 NW Fort Sill Blvd., where Ruffin collapsed on his side from multiple gunshot wounds.
An official statement released from LPD this weekend said that from their initial interviews, Ruffin "was having an argument with his girlfriend, and the suspect intervened and shot the victim."
