Hit-and-run trial ordered
A local man accused of striking a pedestrian in west Lawton over a month ago has been released on a reduced bond, but records show Bryan Blackaby has been bound over for trial.
Blackaby, 25, is charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatality collision in relation to the April 22 death of 47-year-old Troy McGee. The court previously ordered Blackaby to be held in lieu of a $100,000 bond, but defense attorney Mike Corrales filed a motion May 21 to reduce bond on the grounds Blackaby is a longtime resident of Comanche County with family and a local business in Lawton, has hired an attorney and that similar cases have prompted the court to set bond at $20,000.
Blackaby appeared in court Tuesday to waive his preliminary hearing, and the court reduced bond to $70,000. He was released from custody after posting bond, and was ordered to return for a formal arraignment June 17.
