Future starts Friday for Cameron graduates
The latest Cameron University graduates will walk across the stage into their destinies Friday night.
Cameron's graduation ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Cameron Stadium at the intersection of Southwest 38th Street and Gore Boulevard. The gates will open at 6 p.m. for the audience.
Candidates for graduation should assemble in the east end zone of the stadium no later than 7 p.m. There will be plenty of parking available and the university will provide shuttle service for attendees who have difficulty walking.
The commencement address will be given by Cameron University alumnus Bill W. Burgess Jr., said Ronna Vanderslice, vice president of academic affairs for Cameron.
Burgess is the first Cameron alumnus to be appointed to the University of Oklahoma, Cameron University and Rogers State University Board of Regents, on which he currently serves.
Burgess is the co-owner/publisher of The Lawton Constitution, the third-largest newspaper published in the state of Oklahoma. He serves as the Oklahoma civilian aide to the secretary of the Army, is the chairman of the board of Vortex and senior partner of the Burgess & Hightower Law Firm.
