First terrestrial animals coming to Medicine Park Aquarium soon

MEDICINE PARK — Two new residents will soon help kick off a major expansion of the Medicine Park Aquarium and Natural Sciences Center.

Bonnie, a 10 year-old bobcat and Moriah, an 8 year-old blue-eyed coyote, will be added to the center later this year, once their pins are built and approved by the United States Department of Agriculture. The animals were originally housed at Fort Sill, but budget cuts prompted a need for relocation. Doug Kemper, aquarium executive director, saw an opportunity and offered to help.

“They had to close the animal display out there and many regular visitors and staff knew of these animals and some raised them from when they were youngsters,” he said.
