Fire fought near Sterling
Several area fire departments responded to a large-scale grass fire that occurred Sunday evening near Sterling in eastern Comanche County.
The blaze was reported around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast 165th and Welch Road, northwest of Sterling. Firefighters from area departments were dispatched to the scene including Sterling, Elgin, Fletcher, Cox's Store and Cyril. They remained on the scene for several hours.
No structures were confirmed to have been affected by the blaze.
Comanche County District 1 brought in a motor grader to assist with firefighting efforts.
Additional information on the fire, including number of acres involved or extent of possible damage, was unavailable at presstime Sunday.
