Donor Quilt to be displayed
As people come through the lobby at Comanche County Memorial Hospital for the next month, they will see a quilt with people’s pictures and vital statistics on it.
That quilt is part of the LifeShare of Oklahoma, which helps coordinate organ donors. The Patches of Love quilt consists of squares which donor’s families have submitted to honor their loved ones who were organ donors.
“For the fifth consecutive year, LifeShare broke its previous record and coordinated the donation of lifesaving organs from 188 donors whose generous gifts resulted in 542 organs transplanted in 2018, saving 488 lives,” said Ethan Hong, hospital liaison for LifeShare. “LifeShare is the federally-designated organ procurement organization in the state of Oklahoma and is responsible for organ and tissue donation statewide.”
