County tax bills to go out today
Tax time has come around again as the Comanche County Treasurer’s office will be sending out 2019 tax statements today to county property owners. Treasurer’s office staff worked late Thursday afternoon to put postage on over 50,000 envelopes for delivery to Comanche County taxpayers.
Comanche County Treasurer Rhonda Brantley said her staff has been working diligently since receiving information from Comanche County Assessor Grant Edwards.
“We started printing bills on Nov. 4 and finished printing them on Nov. 5,” Brantley said.
She added that her staff then went through residents who had multiple statements and sent those statements as one package to save on postage.
According to Brantley, the parcel count this year was 53,708, for a total amount to be collected of $74,065,211, which is $256,848 less than the $74,322,059 total from 2018.
According to a chart provided by Edwards’ office, 77.92 percent of the total which equals $57,711,612, will go to schools in Comanche County, which is a $2,817,339 increase over 2018; 9.29 percent which equals $6,880,658, will go to the City of Lawton, a reduction of $3,041,337 from 2018; 10.23 percent, which equals $7,576,871, will go to the county general fund, a reduction of $26,276 from 2018; and 2.56 percent, which equals $1,896,069, will go to the county health department, a reduction of $6,576 from 2018.
