County staffers win awards

The Comanche County Health Department and three staff members received awards for outstanding service at the Oklahoma State Board of Health and Oklahoma State Department of Health annual recognition ceremony.

Kyle Rogers, Ashley Green and Dan Brown received awards for outstanding service provided by public health employees at their workplace or in their communities. Awards were given in nine categories and the local department was one of three county health departments to receive the County Office Teamwork Award, said Brandie O'Connor, Comanche County administrative director.

The local department received the award because "through its system of local health service delivery, (it) works to protect and promote health, prevent disease and injury and cultivate conditions that help Oklahomans be healthy," O'Connor said.

Dan Brown, supervisor of the South Central Quadrant, Environmental Health Services, based in Lawton, was also awarded a County Office Teamwork Award for being part of the Cleveland County Health Department Tornado Response Team. The seven-member team worked to ensure that "food served in shelters and offered to residents and volunteers in tempoarary and licensed food facilities was safe to eat" during the May 2013 tornadoes in Moore and Little Axe.
