Cops & Kids Poker Run to deal prizes on Saturday
The Lawton Police Department and a host of community partners are inviting everyone to a weekend poker run fundraiser, and two participants will walk away with cash prizes.
The sixth annual Cops & Kids Poker Run will be this Saturday at Elmer Thomas Park's Holiday House as the starting point. Police Sgt. Daniel Harter said the first bike or car will go out at 9 a.m. and the last must be in at 2 p.m.
Participants will ride a set course with scheduled stops at which each participant will draw one card. Each card has been designated a point value to be totaled for an overall score.
The holder of the highest scoring hand will win $500 and the lowest-scoring hand will win $250 cash, so even those with no poker expertise can get lucky.
In addition to the registration fee $25 for pre-registration and $30 the day of the event parparticipants can buy additional "hands" for $5 to increase the chances of winning.
Harter said anyone with a motorcycle or car can ride the course, and there will be plenty of activities aside from the run live music from Samantha Rose and raffles for everything from tattoo certificates to spa treatment vouchers.
