Cameron sets contingency plans in case of bad weather Friday night
Cameron University's annual commencement ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cameron Stadium.
Cameron officials encourage graduates, their families and friends, and all visitors to arrive at least 30 minutes early to facilitate a seamless entry into the stadium. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Ample parking is available on campus. Chilled water will be available free of charge.
Oversized bags, backpacks, duffel bags, coolers, drinks, cans and bottles will not be permitted. Safety checks of allowable carry-in baggage or cases, such as handbags, purses, camera bags or any similar container, will be conducted by trained security officers. The officers will check for any unacceptable items, such as cans, bottles, illegal drugs, alcohol, weapons, fireworks, signs on poles, and noisemakers.
In the event of rain, the commencement ceremony will still be at Cameron Stadium on Friday evening. Ponchos will be available at the stadium gates for graduates, faculty and guests. Guests are encouraged to dress accordingly. To ensure that all guests have an unimpeded view of the stage, umbrellas will not be allowed.
In the event of severe weather on Friday evening, the commencement ceremony will be at Cameron Stadium at 10 a.m. Saturday.
