Booker, Jackson elected
Lawton residents elected businessman Stan Booker as mayor Tuesday, and voted to return Ward 2 Councilman Keith Jackson to office.
Booker bested Ward 5 City Councilman Dwight Tanner in the race to replace Fred Fitch, who did not seek re-election. Booker won 58.15 percent of the vote, or 9,778 votes to Tanner’s 7,036 votes (41.85 percent). The two men topped a field of six candidates in August to win their shot at competing for mayor in the general election.
Booker, who already is making plans for his term, said he was humbled by Tuesday’s results.
