Wolverines split two OT thrillers in Enid
ENID Lawton High finally made the trip north to Enid after two failed attempts because of snow.
The trip produced a pair of thrilling games and a split for the Wolverines. The boys won, 73-68, in double overtime barnburner. The girls battled foul trouble all game, but still pushed it to overtime only to lose, 59-50.
LHS travels to U.S. Grant on Thursday.
Defense saves boys
The boys carried the lead for much of the game until midway through the fourth quarter when Enid finally caught them. The No. 19 Wolverines (11-9) then fell behind by six, but four straight steals led to six points and attempt at the end of regulation by Dallas Sealey just barely missed pushing the game to overtime.
Then it was up to junior Darreyl Patterson to save the day in the first overtime as he got a steal and a layup as time expired to push the game to the second overtime.
Patterson fouled out early in the second overtime, but LHS was able to grind out the win.
