Short squad of RollerGirls fall to dominant Fayetteville team

Road trip leads to tough loss for 580 RollerGirls against Arkansas team.

The RollerGirls traveled Saturday to Fayeteville, Ark., to battle the Northwest Arkansas Roller Derby squad. Battling with a short squad, the Lawton team fell 274 to 108.

Coach/skater Marie “Molly Meet Your Maker” Berberea called it a “very clean game. The first half was tough for 580 and they trailed 136-28 at the half. The second half gave the team a bigger boost of esteem as well as some lessons learned.

“Their footwork was so impressive, and we came away with so many lessons,” she said. “Their style versus ours, highlighted our weaknesses and they have been our toughest opponents this season.”

With eight skaters making the trip, Brittany “Hell’N Agony” Katvala moved from her usual blocker post into the lineup of jammers, along with Berberea and Erica “Corn Bred” Dunlap.
