Senior leader Halbleib reflects on long, emotional journey back to court following hip injury

Thursday was an emotional day for Cameron University’s women’s basketball team with tears being shared twice for totally different reasons.

That’s what is great about athletes on most levels below the professional leagues; the athletes care deeply about each other and what affects one can affect all.

Thursday started out as any game day might, with a shoot-around in the Aggie Gym. Everything was the same until Ole’ Kim, the CU mascot showed up.

Senior Natalie Halbleib was there and she thought something was up at the time.

“Ole Kim never shows up, so we thought something might be up,” the senior leader said. “As things went along, the coaches set up a free throw game and while Maighan (freshman Hedge) was shooting he took off his head and it was her dad.
