RollerGirls close home season on high note with mashup
The 580 RollerGirls closed out their home season Saturday night with a mashup matchup that featured local vets as well as skaters from the Oklahoma Victory Dolls and one from Wichita Falls, Texas.
580 coach/skater Marie “Molly Meet Your Maker” Berberea said the Glam Bam Mashup is a bit of a non-traditional bout in that skaters from different teams join up to compete together instead of against one another. Teams are drawn and the combos work together to provide an exciting match for the audience.
An exhibition bout, the score doesn’t count as much as the experience, according to the skaters. With seven skaters per squad, everyone spent a lot of time on the track.
“This mashup helped each individual skater test the skills they have been working on all season while having an amazing time learning new skills from visiting skaters,” said 580 team captain Brittany “Hell’N Agony” Katvala. “It also geared us up for our Glam Run coming up at the end of the month. The only sad thing is that we only have 2 away games left this season. But we do all sorts of fun stuff in the off season so make sure to keep up with is on Facebook.”
