Rain pushes back regional schedule after Highlanders defeat Ike late Thursday

MacArthur wasted no time building its lead Thursday night.

The Highlanders scored five runs in the opening inning of a 5A regional tournament game against city rival Eisenhower to set the stage for an eventual 8-1 victory.

The Eagles (15-18) walked the first three batters to load the bases before Racer Felter got the bats going with a single that drove in Aeron Woodson. Michelle Artzberger then stole home before Zac DeLong’s double to right field brought in Jack Smith for the third run. In all, the Highlanders went eight deep into the lineup that inning.

Tre Harris reached home in the top of the inning for Ike’s only run of the evening.
