Mac sweeps Lawton Christian in Shortgrass
Sep Reese had to take over, so he did.
After Lawton Christian cut MacArthur’s 12-point lead to single digits late in the third quarter, the Highlanders desperately sought a difference-maker to help stave off an upset loss.
The junior had already doubled his first-half total in the third quarter, and he went on to score 13 of his 33 points in the fourth to lead Mac to an 86-71 win in the first round of the Shortgrass Classic at Altus High on Thursday afternoon.
In all, Reese tallied 23 points in the second half.
“They made a big run in the third to cut it to four or two early in the fourth,” Mac coach Marco Gagliardi said. “Sep just kind of took over from there, and it was just one of those games he was able to get to the rim at any time. We needed that because (Danquez Dawsey) was in foul trouble the entire game, and he ended up fouling out in the third.”
