Mac offense aids win over Noble
MacArthur faced its second district opponent of the season on Thursday, Noble. Much like Tuesday's game against Altus, Mac broke out the bats in a 5-3 win.
The Highlanders pounded out 11 hits led by two each from Ashley Pollard (2 for 4), Sydnee Stolz (2 for 3) and Kassidy Kephart (2 for 3). Kephart had the big hit of the night, a two-run double in the third to turn a 2-2 tie into a 4-2 lead.
Noble scored a couple of unearned runs in the first inning thanks to a couple of Highlander errors, but Mac quickly started chipping away. It scored once in both the first and second innings before Kephart's double. Mac scored again in the fourth.
The 11 hits were more than enough to help Ariel Enzenauer in the circle. She limited the Bears to just four hits while giving up just one earned run. She struck out five.
"She missed some spots, but she's still getting into pitching shape," Mac head coach Dusty Ketner said of Enzenauer. "We just came out flat. We're trying to find a way to get going (early)."
Despite not playing its best, it was another important win for the MacArthur as it ran its record to 2-0 overall and in district play. With Chickasha, Duncan and Mac all vying for the district title, Mac can't afford to slip up against the other opponents.
