Mac looks to pull upset against El Reno
Its fate no longer in its hands, MacArthur must rely on outside help if it is to make the Class 5A playoffs.
And despite the fact that a win against El Reno wouldn’t technically make a difference in their playoff fate, the Highlanders will still seek to end their 2019 season on a high note tonight when the No. 6 Indians come to town.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Cameron Stadium.
Of course, an upset win would certainly be a welcome senior night surprise for the green and gold faithful. Ultimately, MacArthur needs Altus to beat Duncan on Friday, but not win by too many points.
On a two-game losing streak and with last week’s loss to Duncan doing severe damage to the team’s playoff hopes, MacArthur enters the game with its back against the wall.
The key for any team facing El Reno is trying to slow down an offensive attack that is averaging nearly 40 points per game, a number heavily weighted down by the 33 combined points El Reno put up in its first two games (against state contenders Piedmont and Poteau). And the engine that makes the machine go is quarterback Dorian Plumley.
