Little brother Sterling Crawley dazzles crowd at Rangers Rodeo
If Brinks has an extra armored car it wants to sell, the Crawley brothers may very well be ready to purchase it to haul off the prize money they’ve pocketed over the years at the Lawton Rangers Rodeo.
World champion Jacobs Crawley has placed in seven of the last nine Rangers Rodeos but last night it was brother Sterling who staked his claim to another title.
For Sterling, everything went right aboard the good bronc Capone from the Sammy Andrews herd and he finished with an 87 to surge into the lead. The Stephenville cowboy was eager to discuss his ride and the success they’ve had in Lawton.
“Until the announcer mentioned it I didn’t remember riding that bronc,” Sterling said. “He’s just a good bronc and if you do your work you will normally get a good check.”
He can’t explain why they do so well here, but he’s says that’s not important.
“Part of it is that Bennie (Beutler) always brings good broncs and these they have tonight from Sammy Andrews are all good,” he said. “We’ve always drawn well and that makes it much easier. But we’ve both won money on broncs that didn’t have the huge reputation.
