Lawton High tops Ike in four sets
Lawton High was able to overcome a first-set loss on Tuesday night to defeat city rival Eisenhower, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23, 25-16, at Wolverine Gym.
The Wolverines exacted a bit of revenge on the Eagles, who had taken the season’s first match between the two squads, back on Aug. 20. This time, the Eagles had difficulty with the height of 6’2 sophomore Liz Omunside and jumping ability of senior Katrina Alaelua.
“We were able to cover and pick the ball up. They were tipping the ball a lot, so we had to cover when they tried to tip around Liz,” Lawton High coach Carla Neininger said. “I feel like the team as a whole played really well today, it wasn’t one player.”
Lawton High is now 10-13, having won three in a row. The Wolverines play another rival on Thursday when they host MacArthur.
