Lashar urges local players to ‘seek truth’ at annual banquet
How do we measure success? How do we determine the fullness to which a life was lived?
On Thursday, local high school football players learned how success can be measured in different ways, and how what we do outside of our field of expertise may be just as important as what we do in it.
As they have for 24 years, the football teams representing the three Lawton high schools gathered for the Dr. Charles Green Memorial Football Banquet. The banquet serves as a preamble to the coming school year and football season. But just as importantly, it pays homage to Dr. Charles Green, who served as the team physician for all three city schools’ football teams for more than four decades. He also studied to become a pastor, officiating many weddings of his friends and loved ones, and was a venerated member of the Lawton community for years. Even after death, his impact is still felt, and his legacy is still carried on, in part by events like the banquet.
