Ike girls battle tested after facing PC West

While the dream of a signature road upset didn’t come true, Eisenhower girls basketball coach Daniel Wall knows his Lady Eagles are now battle tested for the playoffs which begin next week.

Missing star Ginger Reece, the No. 8 Eisenhower girls (11-12) fell on the road Friday night, losing to the top-ranked team in 5A, Putnam City West, 78-55.

The Patriots, now 20-1, jumped out to a 28-13 first quarter lead and led 46-21 at halftime, but the Eagles, led by 15 points from Olivia Choney, outscored them the rest of the way.

“I’m so proud of Olivia Choney,” Wall said. “She got hot in there and didn’t look like a freshman tonight. I’m proud of the girls as they kept fighting, especially in the second half when we calmed down and played together as a team. I’ll take that any day against a good team.”
