Felter’s 5 TD passes help Mac past Ike
It would seem safe to say that Racer Felter doesn’t mind playing Eisenhower.
And it would also be safe to say Ike fans can’t wait to see him graduate.
Two seasons ago, Felter, who wasn’t even MacArthur’s starting quarterback, began his varsity career with five rushing touchdowns against Eisenhower.
On Friday night, Felter replicated that feat, this time through the air, tossing five touchdown passes to help MacArthur cruise to a 49-8 victory over their rivals to the west at Cameron Stadium.
Felter finished 9 of 15 passing for 301 yards, averaging a whopping 33.4 yards per completion and 20 yards per attempt. Over the three games he’s played against the Eagles, Felter accounted for 14 total touchdowns. However, the senior was quick to point out that he was merely part of three rivalry victories that were team efforts.
“It brings out the best in all the team, really,” Felter said. “We were prepared, we came out with a lot of energy tonight.”
The Highlanders came out of the gate on fire, as well. On the first snap of the ball game, Felter tossed a simple screen pass to receiver Nasir Kemper. Kemper followed a couple of blocks and turned it into an 80-yard touchdown. Kemper had changed positions from running back in the offseason because the MacArthur coaching staff wanted to better utilize his speed in space. In just 12 seconds, Kemper rewarded the move.
