Eisenhower gathers sweep of arch rival Wolverines; Eagle boys 4-0 in city games
Both Eisenhower basketball teams showed why they are ranked in the Top 10 in the state Friday night as the Eagles swept arch-rival Lawton High at home. Ike has beaten LHS in all four games this season.
The boys turned a 25-20 halftime lead into a 65-36 rout. The girls held Lawton High to just four points in the fourth quarter in a 49-39 comeback win.
Defensive effort leads girls
With a little over a minute left in the third quarter, the Class 6A No. 10 Eisenhower girls held a 34-28 lead, but No. 20 Lawton High's Abby Navarro converted a conventional three-point play, Bailee Cox made a bucket and Deadra White scored a putback with two seconds left to give LHS a 35-34 lead going into the fourth.
It was all downhill from there for the Wolverines (11-8) thanks to Ike's defensive pressure and the Eagles hitting free throws.
Ike (15-3) opened the quarter on an 8-2 run and never looked back.
